The TT was introduced to the US market in 1998 as Audi's two door sports car. The first generation TT was based on the VW PQ34 chassis shared with the VW Mk4. The second generation Mk2 TT was based on the PQ35 of the 8P A3 and VW Mk5, and the Mk3 TT is based on the MQB chassis used by the A3 / S3 / RS3 and Mk7 VWs.
